My dear Baron,
Knowing how anxious you are about the fate of poor Leichhardt, I send you the accompanying letter.

I also enclose two pinnules of Aspidium decompositum from the Blue Mountains. The ordinary form (which I believe is identical with the Norfolk Island Nephrodium calanthum ) seems to be without any indusium. I do not recollect ever having seen one on it. Now is the other (which resembles the Norfolk Island N. microsorum , & A. tenerum from the north) a variety of A. decompositum or Brown's

N. tenerum ? Mr Bentham does not give Port Jackson as the habitat, but I believe Brown had both forms from this part
