W.H.Odgers Esqr.
Undersecretary.
Sir,
In compliance with the request, conveyed by your circular N.1444
1
See W. Odgers to M, 31 March 1879 (in this edition as 79-03-31c).
I have the honor to submit herewith my propositions for the estimates of the Gov. Botanists Department during the financial year 1879-1880. No alterations in the estimates of last year are made by me, except that I have raised the salaries of the two Assistants by £25 (this being nearly equivalent to the increment of classified officers), and as I feel sure that faithful services of any officers will be recognized, I hope, that this small addition to last years vote will meet with the approval of the hon. the Chief Secretary. I need not add, that I should hail with gratitude any additional provision, which the Ministerial Chief may feel pleased to render for the resuscitation of my Department as a whole, and if desired can afford fuller explanations of my views on this subject.
I have the honor to be, Sir,
Your obedient
Ferd. von Mueller,
Gov. Botanist.

These estimates have been marked 'approved' by B. O'Loghlen, Acting Chief Secretary.
In addition to this the sum of £125 would be required, if action is to be taken on a proposition of mine, made 7. Sept. 1878,
