MS found with a specimen of Trema tomentosa (MEL 2215720).

The writing is unclear and M evidently had difficulty deciphering it, for there is
an annotation by him: 'Moma [deleted], Q.L. Ruma or Roma'. A George Lewis Singleton was managing a pastoral property at
Roma at this time.

Dear Sir
Under separate cover I send you sample of leaf and seeds of a plant or shrub found
in this neighbourhood —
It is only found in thick scrubs or deep well sheltered gullies grows to the height
of from five to eight feet, and cannot stand frost from the effects of which withers
like a young orange.
I would feel very thankfull if you could kindly inform me if it is poisonous as last
winter we found four head of young cattle dead in its immediate vicinity.
Yours faithfully
G. L. Singleton
