MS found with a specimen of Lolium tomulentum var. arvense (MEL 1520010).

Vic.
Dec: 19. 78
The enclosed specimen is a stem of a large bundle of others, apparently arising from one seed. I suppose there are upwards of 100.
I have not the slightest idea how the seed came here, for the ground was broke up for a garden only last season. I have sown flower &c seed in it, obtained from Germany, England and America &c but no grasses, except the Bamboos that you sent to me. By the bye, the and the Arundinasia stricta

have grown.
You will oblige me if you will throw some light upon the character of the specimen.
I am dear Baron, Yours respectfully
J Dickinson
Baron Von Mueller.
