Potter appears to have been removed from Fellowship, reinstated and removed again. Although his name appears in the Fellows list for 1890 and later, his signature was deleted from the certificate for T Stanley Milroy (M to the Royal Geographical Society, July 1890 (in this edition as 90-07-00b)), and the name of a Council member, C. E. Peek, substituted; his name was also removed from the certificate for L. L. Smith (M to Royal Geographical Society, 28 January 1891). His name does not appear in the list for 1895.
