The capital letter M has been written in pencil to the left of the date, and in a different hand, on the back of the folio.

I feel grateful, dear Mr Duthie, for the seeds, which you so kindly sent by last mail. If I can return you anything, specially wanted from Australia there, then let me know by all means, and I will do what I can.
