I have no fruits of Capparis Mitchelli
here in my collection, fit for your Museum, dear Mr Dyer, but have at once appealed
to correspondents in the interior, to procure good samples of this fruit.

Capparis mitchellii?

See W. Woolls to M, 8 March 1878 (in this edition as 78-03-08a); W. Woolls to M, 13 May 1878 (in this edition as 78-05-13a); and M to W. Thiselton-Dyer, 17 May 1878.
Recently some seeds, gathered by me in W. Austr, were forwarded to Kew, and by the
mail after this month I shall send an other and different supply.
I like occasional return-sendings for such seeds, but they must be sent to me direct
under my own name by post, and
not through the bot. Garden here
, until my Directorship is reestablished for which I daily strive and for which my
Directorial Colleagues in Europe and particularly in Britain should give a strenous
support.

There are monthly entries for seeds received from M in 1878 (two entries for April)
in the 'Kew Inwards Book 1878-1883', but they do not all indicate the species, or
from where they were collected.
So little do I know what goes on in the out-world, that I only very recently learned
of your happy union with Miss Hooker. Pray accept under these circumstances my best
congratulation though offered so late.

Thiselton-Dyer married Harriet Anne Hooker on 23 June 1877 (Allan 1967).
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
I like that in the Kew reports I obtain personal credit for any sendings of seeds,
to strengthen my claims for the resuscitation of the Directorship.
