Mitglied zahlreicher wissenschaftlicher Vereine u.s.w.
Einige zwanzig Jahre sind verflossen seit Sie, Herr Baron nach mehrjährigem Aufenthalte
Süd-Australien verliessen, wo Sie den Grund legten zu den ausgezeichneten botanischen
Werken, zumal über die Flora Australiens, welche seitdem auf dem ganzen Erdenrunde
als klassisch betrachtet werden.
Trotz der kurzen Nachricht beschloss der Adelaider "Deutsche Club" Ihnen wenigstens
durch seinen Vorstand diese Adresse zu überreichen, mit dem Bedauern, dass Sie Adelaide
bei dieser Gelegenheit nicht wenigstens einen kurzen Besuch machen, um sich an den
wesentlichen Fortschritten der damals so kleinen Colonie zu freuen und die Bekanntschaft
so mancher alten Colonisten zu erneuern, welche Sie in treuem Angedanken behalten
und Ihre wissenschaftlichen Triumphe mitgefeiert haben.
Die Mitglieder des Clubs wünschen Ihnen eine glückliche Reise und Heimkehr und hoffen
dass Sie nach dieser Erholung als ächter, unermüdlicher Jünger der Wissenschaft Ihre
Forschungen noch lange fortsetzen können.

To Baron Ferdinand von Mueller, C.M.G. and holder of various other Orders, Doctor
of Medicine and Philosophy, Government Officer of the Colony of Victoria, Member of
numerous scientific societies, etc.
More than 20 years have passed since you, Baron, after several years' residence left
South Australia, where you laid the foundation for the excellent botanic works, especially
on the Flora of Australia, that since then are considered as classical throughout
the whole globe.
Notwithstanding the short notice it was resolved by the German Club of Adelaide, to
present at least through its Committee this address, and to express our regret that
on this occasion you cannot even pay a short visit to Adelaide, with a view to witnessing
the substantial progress of what was at your time so small a colony, and to renew
the acquaintance of many of the old colonists who kept you in true memory and who
rejoiced in your scientific triumphs.
The members of the club wish you a happy voyage and return, and hope that after this
recreation you as a genuine and indefatigable disciple of science may yet continue
your researches for a long period.
