The letter is dated to 21 June 1877, the Thursday before the letter was registered
in the Chief Secretary's Department on 23 June 1877.
I Iearn at the public works office, dear Mr Odgers, that as yet no communication in
reference to the building vote for my Department has been received there from your
office. This makes me anxious to ask you in time, whether I have yet to do anything
further to secure the favorable consideration of my proposal to give me £1800 in the
new financial year after the saving of the £900 on the votes of the present (or rather
past) year.
