Dated to 8 May 1877 as the letter was registered in the Chief Secretary's Department on 11 May 1877, and the
Tuesday before was the 8th. On 10 May, W. Odgers, Under Secretary, minuted: 'The Chief
Secretary informs me that he has seen the Gov. Botanist who waited upon him at his
home this morning'.
I should be grateful, dear Mr Odgers, to have a consultation with Mr M'Pherson,
more particularly as I feel not well. It would be most pleasing to me, if the hon.
Gentleman would grant me a quiet evening hour early at his own residence, where I
have been occasionally a guest.

i.e. John MacPherson.
Regardfully
Ferd. von Mueller.
