MS is a printed certificate, with the date, M's name and the signatures of the President
and Secretary added by hand. There is a copy of the text, dated 17 April 1877, in
the archives at the Reale Istituto Veneto de Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, Venice, with
a list of the eleven new Corresponding Members of the Institute elected on 25 March
1877 to whom certificates were sent. M is included as: 'Sigr Ferdinando von Mueller,
professore di botanica, a Melbourne' [Mr Ferdinand von Mueller, professor of botany
at Melbourne] followed by a note: 'NB. Per quest'ultimo chiedere i titoli al proponente
Sr. ViceSo Zanardini' [NB. For this last, ask the proposer, Vice-secretary Zanardini,
for the titles].
Adempiamo il gradito ufficio di partecipare alla S. V. Chiarissima la sua nomina a
Socio corrispondente di questo Istituto.
Nel rendere tale omaggio all'opera, con tanto onore, da Lei prestata agli studii;
l'Istituto si ripromette altresi quell'efficace appoggio ch'Ella saprà accordargli,
per il vantaggio della scienza e per il decoro del Corpo, al quale adesso appartiene.
Con questa ferma fiducia e lieti di darle tale comunicazione, noi abbiamo frattanto
l'onore di rassegnare alla S. V. Chiarissima la profonda nostra stima ed osservanza.
