M’s requisition was approved and referred to the Government Printer on 12 December 1876. The requisition is likely to have been a result of his asking the Academy which of works they did not have, when he wrote to acknowledge his election as a member (M to E. Cope, 21 June 1876). M's gift of volumes 7-9 of his Fragmenta (B72.02.08, B75.04.06, B76.01.09), listed in the Proceedings of the Academy for 1876 (vol. 28, p. 414) must have been sent before this requisition; the volume for 1877 (vol. 29, p. 377) lists a gift of B76.12.04.
