I herewith send you, dear Dr Hooker, a few freshly ripened grains of , which might easily be raised like L. aquatica. Doubtless it could be naturalized in England; but the living plant at Kew would be interesting for comparisons.
I see, that you adopted the very fair plan, to count the specimens contributed in the course of the year to the Kew collections of dried plants.

I like of course to make as good a show as I can with my yet oppressed Department; so I should wish much, that I get credit also for what is kept by Mr Bentham for Kew from my collections, sent for his use for vol. VII of the flora.
