My dear Baron —
I am much puzzled — though I dare say I ought not to be — by the enclosed plant —
of which I find abundance on a wettish piece of waste land just outside the town.
It is very "Erigeroid" in appearance — but I cannot establish its identity. Will you
kindly do so for me?
Many thanks for the description of Isolepis gaudichaudiana. I wish our Museum Library was richer in Botanical works, — then perhaps I should not have to trouble you so
often.
Our friend Father Woods
has left the Island for Queensland — or rather was to have left it some weeks ago, but he has been very dangerously ill at Launceston. I hear now he is better, & so
I suppose he has left. He will be a great loss to us here.

J. Tenison Woods.
We have missed getting a good Herbarium — W. Archer's. It was sent to England — &
Dr Hooker advised us we could have it for £60. However the Government has refused
the money, & the Society
cannot afford to buy it, it will be sold in England.
I am very sorry for this, as it was so purely Tasmanian.

Many Archer specimens, not all of which are from his personal herbarium, are at Kew.
I remain
Yrs very truly
