My dear Baron von Mueller,
I send you two small packets Seed No 1 best & No 2 It was all I could procure as there was some very tempestuous weather about the time of it's ripening and moreover I unfortunately had the lumbago at the time and was unable to go out. When I did make the attempt, I had to go on foot as I had used some stuff that blistered me severely, from the effects of which I am still suffering. I send you also specimen of , our finest brush tree. It was obtained under difficulties as there were no blacks about and I had to obtain it by means of a gun as the trees were too large to fell. It does not appear to blossom until it arrives at a considerable age. On the contrary very small trees of blossom. Of the former there will be much seed this season but the latter is hard to get as the cockatoos eat it on the tree. It is also a fine lasting timber and not so easily burnt as the Flin. Gre. which will burn green. I have a lot of specimens to send which I will do so soon as I have time to make them up. Although of late I am more at Lismore than Casino

I hope you get what I send without being much knocked about. You have not noticed Nos 140 & 150. How many varieties of are there here? There are 3 distinct fruits I know, not referring to any fruit of the kind that grows on a thorny tree. I am, My dear Baron, yours truly
Charles. H. Fawcett.
