On 11 August 1876 the Under Secretary, W. Odgers, following MacPherson's direction that the seeds be forwarded 'to the Mayor', minuted: 'The Government Botanist is requested to be good enough to transmit them direct pursuant to above instructions.' M replied on 14 August: 'Seeds transmitted as requested'.
