Honorable Chief Secretary.
&c&c
Sir,
Having learnt that it is intended to pull down the buildings of Immigrants Home at
the City-Bridge, I have the honor to enquire, whether the
brickbuildings
could be transferred to me for Office use. You will be aware from former communications,
that I am without a single Office room, the building with 8 rooms, which I gradually
caused to
built for my Officework, having also been withdrawn from me with the separate Laboratory
&c three years ago. The brick structures at the City bridge are not unsightly, besides
they could be screened from the view of Gov. House by tall growing trees, bamboos
&c.
