Melbourne, 9th May 1876.
Sir,
I have the honor to solicit that you will be pleased to sanction the transfer of the
sum of Fifty pounds (£50.- .-), balance of the vote for "Publication of works on Australian
plants" to the vote for "Collecting botanic specimens, clerical assistance etc", as
I find that this sum will not be absolutely required for the former item, and the
transfer will enable me to defray other necessary expenditure of the department during
the remainder of the present financial year.
