Letter not found. The text given here is from an advertisement for 'Eucalypti oil' manufactured by Sander and Sons, Camperdown chronicle, 30 January 1877, p. 4. The letter is dated to 1876, since this is when Sander and Sons began manufacturing the product, announced as a 'New Local Industry' in Bendigo advertiser, 27 July 1876, p. 2. Advertisements from November 1876 carried a general statement that the firm held 'letters and certificates of foreign and home scientific authorities, acknowledging the excellent quality of the Essence. Baron von Mueller, Government botanist; Dr Cruikshank, Health Officer here' (Bendigo advertiser, 25 November 1876. p. 4). An exchange of letters to the editor between Sander and Sons and Joseph Bosisto appeared in the Bendigo advertiser in July and August 1876, where Bosisto pointed out that he had been producing oil for about 15 years, and Sander and Sons claimed that their product was much purer than his distillations.
