Letter not found. The text given here is from Bulletin de la Société d'acclimatation, series 3 vol. 4 (1877), p. 318. The date of M’s letter to Carlotti is uncertain but it ii unlikely to have been after mid-1876, to allow time for seeds to germinate and the plants to become sufficiently established for them to be offered to the Society at its meeting on 4 May 1877.

In a long letter, published as 'L'Eucalyptus en Corse' with the minutes of the meeting of 26 October 1876, Carlotti made further mention of M’s supplying him with seeds of Melaleuca and Cinchona and said he expected to be able to report 'in a few months from now' whether the plants thrive in sheltered coastal land (p. 672).
