Date of letter stated on file.
I see, dear Mr Odgers, that Mr Wrixon, has given notice about information desired
regarding "the best means of arresting by planting or otherwise the encroachment of
sand along the western coast".
If Mr Ramsay desires such information, I will early prepare a short report on the
subject.

Wrixon, the member for the electoral district of Belfast, centred on Port Fairy, gave
notice in the Legislative Assembly on 23 June 1875 of a question addressed to the
Commissioner of Lands and Survey on this subject, see Age, 24 June 1875, p. 3.
Respectfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
A similar report was already formerly prepared for Sir Charl. Duffy regarding Sorrento,
and general advise is contained in my forest-lecture,
but in this instance a
special
report would be desirable. It seems really of no avail to present an annual report,
as none of that of last year met with the slightest consideration.

Vic. M is probably referring to M to C. Duffy, 8 August 1871, although this concerned drift-sand at Queenscliff, Vic, on the opposite side of
Port Phillip Heads from Sorrento.
