In compliance with your request I have the honor to transmit herewith an estimate of the expenditure, which I would propose to be incurred in my department during the next financial year. It is of course left to the discretion of the hon. R. Ramsay, whether all the items, proposed by me, are accepted for the Ministerial estimate; but I deem it my duty, as the professional head of the branch of public service, entrusted to my administration, to point out what really is needed for the efficient working of my Department. A copy of the estimates for buildings is sent to the hon. the Minister of public Works, as directed.
