MS is a card with two lists of plant names: the first group is written on the card itself while the second group is on a printed label glued to the card. The handwriting appears to be Sullivan's. At least in the early years of his correspondence with M, Sullivan used record numbers more than once, probably starting from 1 with each set of specimens. Not all specimens named in the correspondence between Sullivan and M have survived in MEL; the earliest dated specimen is 1869. Of t species in the two lists here, there are four Sullivan specimens of Alsophila australis (as Cheyathea australis) at MEL, one with no date (numbered 31), two dated as 1872 (numbers 41 and 58), and one dated 1875 (numbered 1); one Adiantum aethiopicum from 1871 (numbered 5) and one , from 11 June 1872 (numbered 11). Therefore no precise date(s) can be assigned to the lists. On the basis of the one matched date and number, the lists are dated to 1875, but this is very uncertain.
