The form as filed has significant oddities. There is no provision for continued payment of salary for M or clerical assistance. It has two lines for Government Botanist's salary, each for the same amount but different amounts previously approved, similarly 'previously approved' amounts appear twice for the items at 14/2, perhaps indicating unfamiliarity with the expected conventions. It is also uncear to which quarter the estimates were expected to apply. The sum of the amounts for M's salary previously approved is the amount for half a financial year, i.e. until the end of December; estimated expenditure would have been expected to be to the end of March 1875.
