Mit dieser Monatspost, edler Freund, habe ich Ihnen einen Abdruck des Reisejournals von Mr Giles gesandt, da in selbigem der Berg Olga genauer beschrieben ist u. auch anderes Sie darin interessiren möchte.

Above the sketch, M wrote ‘Mount Olga’; beside the highest peak in the sketch, he wrote ‘1500' über der Ebene, obern 3000' über dem Meerspiegel' [1500 feet above the plain, more than 3000 feet above sea level], and beside the right-hand adjoining, lower peak, '900' [900 feet].

Ich habe Ihnen allerlei kürzlich gesandt; doch die Störungen in meinem Departement bringen noch immer so viel Aufenthalt u Zeitverlust herbei, dass ich Ihnen gar nicht gerecht werden kann. Dennoch vergesse ich Sie nicht

Ich hoffe Ihnen bald eine Menge Sachen aus Neu Guinea senden zu können Hat Hr Dr Klunzinger oder Graf Castelnau die Priorität über die Fische. Die Arbeit des Ersteren scheint die des Grafen an wissenschaftlicher Genauigkeit weit zu übertreffen. Ich glaube nicht dass Letzterer die literarischen Mittel in genügender Menge zur Verfügung hat.

as Mount Olga is described in more detail in it and there are also other things in it that might interest you.

I have recently sent you quite a bit; but the disruptions in my department are still causing so much delay and loss of time that I am quite unable to do you justice. However, I am not forgetting you.

I hope to send you soon a lot of materials from New Guinea. Does Dr Klunzinger or Count Castelnau have priority with the fishes.

The work of the former appears to exceed greatly that of the Count as far as scientific accuracy is concerned. But I believe, that the latter did not have adequate literary reference works at his disposal.
