Sir,
In reply to your letter of the 13th instant, I am directed by the Chief Secretary
to inform you that if there are funds available from the vote taken for the service
of your department for the year to cover Mr Luehmann's expenses in proceeding to the
Murray, Mr Francis approves of the step you propose to take in sending him, but that
the issue of a Railway Free Pass is a matter not under his control.
