Dear Sir
This morning I received from Mr Blyth
a box of dried plants for transmission to you, and as the "S. Cross"
will leave to-day I at once had it placed on board that vessel. I did not open the
box and consequently know nothing of its contents — but hope they will be of service
to you as Mr Blyth seems very anxious to do something, however little, in the cause
of science, and will, I am sure, highly esteem your kindness if you will favor him
with any directions you may think proper as to the best mode of collecting and forwarding
specimens.

Mr Abbott informed me that you were anxious to make some additions to your last paper
on Tasmanian Phytography;
and I take the opportunity of requesting that you will kindly let me have the additional
matter as soon as possible — the paper being now in the hands of the printer.
