Melbourne, 6th January 1874
Sir
I have the honor to bring under your notice that when the Department of Agriculture
took possession of the laboratory, situated in the botanical reserve, a number of
plants, which I had placed there for the purpose of being dried, were removed thence
to the botanic garden, before I was informed that the laboratory building would be
utilized again.
The present curator of the garden says that he cannot deliver up the plants without
receiving an order to that effect, and I have therefore now the honor to request that
you will be good enough to cause these plants to be returned to the botanic museum.

Your most obedient servant
