Ich erinnere nicht mit Gewissheit, edler Freund, ob ich Ihnen bereits mit letzter Monatspost ankündigte, dass eine neue Sendung im Januar an Sie abgehen wird. Solche würde dann anlangen, wenn die Frühlingssonne das Eis bei Ihnen wegthauet u so die Schiff Fahrt leicht macht. — Besonders richte ich Ihre gütige Aufmerksamkeit auf Frischwasserfische vom Fitzroy-Flusse in Queensland, von welchem Strom u der Umgebung auch einige Saurien beigefügt sind. Wenn diese bald einem speciellen Ichthyologen von Ihnen zur Bearbeitung zugewiesen würden, so käme uns wenigsten in diesem Falle kein Anderer zuvor. Bei dieser Gelegenheit will ich denn auch ernstlich darnach sehen, so weit ich's vermag, die Lücken in den Reihen der publications auszufüllen, welche ich von Zeit zu Zeit sandte.

Seien Sie versichert dass ich stets Ihre Erfordernisse in Erinnerung behalte, aber selbst mit den grössten Geldopfern ist nicht Alles in dem theuern Lande hier zu erschwingen, u meine eigne Zeit ist officiell u literarisch so arg in Anspruch genommen, dass ich manchmal Ihnen als gleichgültig erscheinen mag, wenn solches keineswegs der Fall ist.

that a new consignment will be dispatched to you in January. It will arrive when the spring sunshine has thawed the ice there, making shipping easier. — I want to draw your kind attention in particular to the freshwater fishes from the Fitzroy River in Queensland, some lizards from this river and its vicinity are also included. If these were to be given to a specialist ichthyologist to be worked up soon, nobody else would anticipate us, at least in this case. I shall also take this opportunity seriously to see to it, as far as I am able, that the gaps in the serial publications I sent periodically will be filled.

Be assured that I shall always be mindful of your requirements but, even with the greatest financial sacrifices, not everything is affordable here in this expensive country, and my own time is so much in demand with official and literary work that I may sometimes appear indifferent to you, when this is by no means the case.
