Dear Baron
In former letters I referred to a Passiflora I was very anxious to procure for you.
It was at one time very plentiful in a gully at Pittwater.
It is now however as far as known reduced by fire and cultivation to one small vine.
I have at length procured a specimen and from it I believe the species to be new.
P. Herbertiana growes
in the same place but I cannot think that this is a variety of it. The fruit is very
distinct both externally and internally as is the form of the leaf, absence of glands,
presence of stipules, &c &c. The colour of the flowers is said to be scarlet and very
distinct from P. Herbertiana. I hope it may turn out to be new as it would be interesting
as occuring in the same locality as the Boronia which certainly does not agree well
with the description of B. mollis

grows?
The situation is peculiar and might I think well afford a [chance] species being good
soil surrounded by barren sand-stones for miles
I remain Dear Baron
Yours truly
