At the meeting of 20 March 1874 it was reported (Bulletin, p 242) that 'M. Cordier, d'El Alia, demande à prendre part à la distribution de graines de et de Livistona australis dont M. von Mueller a bien voulu promettre l'envoi à la Société' [Mr Cordier, of El Alia, asked to take part in the distribution of seeds of and Livistona australis that Mr von Mueller had promised to send the Society]. The El Alia referred to is almost certainly the locality in Algeria, not that of the same name in Tunisia, as there are official notices in Moniteur algerién of various dates that refer to a M. Cordier of El-Alia.
