Accept my best thanks, dear Dr Hector, for sending me through Mr Gore
the new volume, which reflects great credit on your administration and on the zeal
of your cooperators.
I have placed it in the Library of my museum; that I could not absolve fully yet my
obligations, concerning the Chatham Island plants you will understand, when you reflect
how I had to "struggle for existence" for the last year and more. When I get peace,
I will give my attention to them.

R. B. Gore.
