On 9 June 1873, the Secretary of Agriculture, A. Wallis, referred M's letter to C. Hodgkinson: 'The

Govt Botanist accly'.
On 17 June Wallis minuted: 'The Govt Botanists request received the approval of the
Honble The President, and the books in question have since been forwarded to Signor
Zanardini through Signor Branchi His Italian Majesty's Consul General for Victoria'.
