I read with much interest your article,
dear Mr Guilfoyle, on your ascent of Mount Warning,
and admire the elequent and almost poetic language, in which you fused it. Let me
hope, that you will contribute similar articles from time to time to the same journal.
I should much like to ask, whether you can get me soon
good
flowering and fruiting specimens of Petermannia. I should like to settle the genus
better, than I could do from Dr Beckler's imperfect material, not only for the sake
of my friend Prof. Dr Petermann, the great geographer of Gotha, but also because the
plant has to take its place in the 7th volume of the Flora.
