John Bedford, Church Steward, Brunswick wrote to the Minister of Agriculture, J. J. Casey, on 3 May 1873: 'I have the honor on behalf of the Trustees of the Wesleyan Church property at Brunswick to request you to make us a gift of a few suitable shrubs for planting in the grounds of our new church' (I73/9273, unit 750, VPRS 44/P, Public Record Office, Victoria). M was required to resubmit all such requests on the new form that had been devised for this purpose.
