P. W. Tait, Honorary Secretary of the Camperdown Cricket Club, wrote to A. R. Wallis, Secretary for Agriculture, on 9 May 1873: 'I am instructed by the Committee of the Camperdown Cricket Club, to apply to the Minister of Agriculture, for a supply of trees and shrubs from the Botanical Gardens, Melbourne, for the purpose of planting in the Cricket Reserve at Camperdown' (I73/9272, unit 750, VPRS 44/P, Public Record Office, Victoria). M was required to resubmit all such requests on the new form that had been devised for this purpose.
