Donald S. Brunton, The Manse, Queenscliff, wrote to the President of the Board of Land and Works, J. Casey, on 9 May 1873: 'I shall be much obliged if you will instruct Baron Von Müeller to send me my usual annual supply of flower seeds for my Manse Garden. I wrote to the Baron a few weeks ago [letter not found]; but I learn from the newspapers that favours of such kind are to be obtained through you. My request being of a very minor sort I trust you will kindly accede to it' (L73/8591, unit 750, VPRS 44/P Public Record Office, Victoria).
Brunton's letter was sent to the Secretary of Agriculture, A. Wallis, who minuted it as above for M. For M's response, see M to J. Casey, 22 May 1873 (in this edition as 73-05-22b).
Will the Govt Botanist be good enough to state what plants can be supplied to the Revd Mr Brunton.
