MS written by Georg Luehmann and signed by M.
Melbourne, 19th April 1873
Sir
In accordance with your kind promise already orally given, I have the honor to solicit,
that you will be pleased to sanction the transfer of the sum of £110.- .- from the
vote for 'Purchase of Plants and Publication of Works' to the vote for 'Stores, Forage
etc.
also the transfer of the sum of £120.- voted for a 'Test plantation in the Ranges' and of £74.10/—, surplus of vote for 'Reward to orphanboys employed in the Garden,' making in the aggregate £194.10/— to the vote for 'Wages', in order to enable me to
meet the necessary expenditure during the current financial year. The vote for Transit
and Incidental Expenses will also be insufficient, especially in consequence of the
unexpected charge for packing of Ferntrees for Holland;
I have therefore the honor to solicit that you will also grant a transfer of the sum
of £30.- .- to this vote from the vote for 'Purchase of Plants & Publication of Works.'
