I also beg to inform you that His Majesty is prepared to go to any expense, desiring
to have the
best
specimen of this tree in Europe in H. M. Gardens.

The letter was enclosed with M to J. Casey, 27 February 1873 (in this edition as 73-02-27a). M to J. Casey, 2 April 1873, reported the costs of extraction of the specimens, and suggested how they could be
met.
