Es mag Ihnen noch nicht bekannt geworden sein, lieber Freund, dass ich einen der höchsten Punkte im MacDonnells Range in Central Australien Ihnen zu Ehren Haast's Bluff genannt habe. Dieser Culminations Punkt ist etwa 4000' über dem Meeresspiegel. Es blieb mir meistens überlassen die neuen Lokalitäten zu benennen, da ich den Plan zu diesem Unternehmen Giles entwarf und es hauptsächlich aus meinen Privatmitteln unterstützte. Sie sehen auch, dass obwohl ich nicht viel Musse zum Schreiben habe ich doch diejenigen, welche mir Güte erwiesen, nicht vergesse.

Haast's Bluff in your honour. This elevated point is about 4000 feet above sea level. It has usually been left to me to name the new localities, as I proposed the plan of this undertaking by Giles and largely supported it out of my private means. You also see that, although I do not have much spare time for writing, I do not forget those who have shown me kindness.
