My dear Baron
By the steamer "Blackbird" I have forwarded to you a parcel containing some specimens of Major Mitchells "plume plant" which have been procured and brought down for you by Mr Clewett He dispairs of being able to get you a living Specimen but I will make further efforts when I get an opportunity
Mr Clewett also tells me that although he has taken Constant notice he has been unable to detect either flower or Seed, and thinks the plant must be propogated like the Ferns. — The specimens sent are finer than the last and I hope will be of interest to you.
A Friend of mine here lately shewed me a creeper which he calls the " " would you like a specimen If so I think I can get you a living one.
I shall be glad at any time to assist your researches as far as lays in my power
Yours very faithfully
Fred. Byerley
