I have the honor to solicit, that you will be pleased to place under authority of
expenditure such portion of the votes sanctioned for my Department, as you may deem
desirable, in order that I may from month to month pass the accounts for salaries
of myself, my assistant and museum & office attendent, also the amounts incurred for
incidental expenses, stores or other official liabilities.
