MS found with an undated specimen of (MEL 2187194). M erected Woollsia ( W. pungens ) in B73.06.03, pp. 52, 55, distinguishing this from Lysinema RB r; MS is therefore dated to the latter half of 1873 as the earliest date when Woolls could have referred to the genus in the way he did.
My dear Doctor,
L. pungens

or Woollsia "by the favour of Baron Mueller," is abundantly in flower just now near the coast in the neighbourhood of Port Jackson.

All the places named in this letter are in NSW.
The flowers are generally white, but sometimes pinkish, & when fresh they have a sweet scent! It does not occur in the Parramatta district, but we have it again on the Blue Mountains. This is the case with several of the same family. They occur near the coast, & then disappear until you reach the mountains.
In haste
yours most sincerely
W. Woolls
