My dear Dr Mueller
I am sending you a box with seeds of our forest trees as I promised last year.
I have had these collected by one of my assistants. They are all packed in tin cases
and I hope will arrive at their destination safely and in good condition. With the
seeds I have also sent a number of saplings. Should the experiment prove successful,
and you wish me to do so, I shall have much pleasure in sending you another and larger
consignment next year. The box will leave thus on Thursday to the care of your London
Agents Blackith & Co Lower Thames Street. I shall write requesting them to forward
the box with as little delay as possible. I have just recd a letter from my old colleague
Newbery
which I hope to answer in a few days.

Selwyn's letter press copy book includes (vol. 76, p. 52) a letter to M dated 20 January 1872 that may be what Selwyn is referring to here. However, apart from the date and the
salutation 'My dear Dr Mueller', the text of the letter is now completely illegible
due to the ink spreading into the paper.

James Cosmo Newbery.
Please remember me kindly to all old friends and believe me
Very sincerely yours
Alfred R. C. Selwyn
Your late Chemical assistant Mr Hoffman
is now in our Laboratory.
