having obliged him again to leave Town, he directed me previous to his departure to prepare and forward to you, with his very best wishes, a copy of the Instructions he handed to Mr W. C. Gosse, the Leader of the Western Exploring Expedition, which I now have much pleasure in doing — The Surveyor General will himself write to you on his return.
