Melbourne bot Garden
26/10/72
I visited yesterday the old Cemetery, dear Major Purchase,
and requested the Gardener there to report to you, how many of the Californian Pines,
Himalaian Oaks, Pittosporums &c had been lost, so that I may learn the number with
a view of restoring the lost plants, so far as it can be done at this season.
It is absolutely necessary that the grass should be cut at once before it goes fully
into seeds. If the flower plots can be early cleaned of weeds, I will undertake to
have additional sowings and plantings of florist flowers then also yet timely effected.
