Melbourne
Septr 4th 1872.
Sir,
I have the honor, by direction of His Honor Judge Pohlman, chairman of the Trustees
of the Melbourne General Cemetery, to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the
30th. ult.
calling attention to the state of the plants furnished by you last year for ornamenting
the Old Cemetery.

See M to R. Pohlman, 31 August 1872.
In reply I beg to state that the Old Cemetery is not yet under the control of the
Trustees of the Melbourne General Cemetery, pending the passing of an Act of Parliament
for that purpose — but I had some time since called the attention of the Public Works
Department to the state of the plants.

See also M to A. Purchas, 1 October 1872.
I have the honor to be
Sir,
Your most obt Servant
A. Purchas.
