Melbourne bot. Garden,
18/7/72
The harrassing confusion in my Department, dear Mr Clarke, has been the cause of my
apparent discourtesy of not replying to your kind note earlier.
I
have sent the
necessary forms to Miss
Blyth, for claiming
the amount. When the pictures are framed I will add on a card [the]
names
, if that meets with your approval.

See M. Clarke to M, 9 July 1872 (in this edition as 72-07-09a).
2
MS is smudged.
As regards the other drawings from W.A. it
seems to me that they are worth 5/ each
considering that they are original. If however the trustees think that too much,
then any smaller sum offered for them might be acceptable to the poor clergyman, who
certainly did not make the drawings for earthly gain. I could then bring the offer
of the trustees under his notice.

See M. Clarke to M, 24 July 1872.
your regardful
Ferd. von Mueller.
I have to thank you much for the 72 copies of lectures. I am ashamed that I came abegging,
but I run short, after my own copies, printed on my own expense, proved insufficient.
