I am not at all sure, dear Dr Hector, whether I have thanked you for the kind sending
of your valuable publications. They are real boons and treasures! You will be aware
that I had here extraordinary harrassing anxieties in the Department, which indeed
are not yet fully overcome. Thus I have hardly commenced to work on a final elaboration
of the plants from the Chathamian Islands. As for Mr Travers popular work
an enumeration of the genera will suffice I fancy that the short postponement of the elaboration will cause no displeasure
1
No 'popular work' by Travers on Chatham Islands has been found.
2
M published 'preliminary notes' in B73.05.01, but no further publication with more
detail.
My list of industrial plants,
now to be sent, will serve
you
also as your clime is so similar to ours.
3
B72.07.01.
I will endeavour to complete your copy of the series of my Fragmenta, as far as it is still possible.
4
Requested in J. Hector to M, 2 July 1872.
I will write to Mr Travers also by this mail.
