Sir,

I am directed by telegram from the Honorable the Commissioner of Lands and Survey, to request that you will be good enough to furnish draft Estimates relative to the Botanical Gardens on such a basis as to distinguish the scientific from the practical branch of the Department.

Presumably a reaction to the estimates submitted by M that were registered on 14 July and could not be found in September (see notes to M to J. Casey, 14 July 1872).
